Hello im New here :)

Post by Nokzen » Fri Feb 21, 2014 11:50 am

Hey guys, so i found this game on steam a while back, it really looks awesome.

I know The Wizards are working hard on this game, but what id like to know is, can we expect some sort of Demo or early access to this game, to try it out?

If yes, is there a ETA when this can be a possibility, id pay for early access :)

Anyways id follow the progress of this game and hope to see some more of it soon.

Hey Nokzen, welcome to the forums :D There is currently no build to test due to spoilers etc. Have patience! The game will be released this year (if I'm correct).

Yea, believe they stated this year if all goes well.

And no demo is planned what-so-ever. They may change their minds down the line, but I wouldn't expect one at this time.

Welcome to the forums btw ^_^

Hi Nokzen,

Early Access is not out of the question, but there is no official word about that for the time being. As for youtube (if you're asking about monetizing letsplay videos of Darkwood) then of course we not only have no problem with that but also highly encourage anyone to post their playthroughs for others to see. Watching other people play Darkwood (if only during internal playtesting with friends) is one of the best things about game development for us. Unless some crazy bugs happen, then we get really stressed out :P

I would advise against releasing on Early Access.

Too many games these days release in that kind of format, and the sad thing is for many gamers is that they exhaust their interest playing the "beta/alpha" long before additions of new content roll in. It then boils down to the point where "is the next patch update going to have enough content to pull me back into playing?"
If that content patch isn't significant, then by the time the next update rolls out after that one, interest will have waned even further.

Plus trolling aside, a variety of backers have complained about fewer updates and release info. The last thing you want to do is add further complaints by dangling an unfinished product infront of their noses and building a larger community based on that...

If you do plan a demo however, throw it onto Gamejolt. A lot of youtube "celebrities" like to frequent that site for indie horror titles to add to their playlists, if anything you'll likely land some free advertising in that regard.
