What is Darkwood?
Darkwood is a top-down, oldschool survival horror set in a procedurally generated, open world. It features RPG and roguelike elements, with intense, tactical combat and a eerie atmosphere.
The supported platforms are PC, Mac and Linux. The release is planned in 2014.

Any alpha or beta versions? I want to play NOW!
Sorry, there are no playable builds currently.

How much will it cost?
About 15-20$.

Can i pre-order Darkwood somewhere?
Nope, sorry! There was a possibility to do that during our Indiegogo campaign, but that option is not available right now.

Will this game support multiplayer or co-op?
Nope. Darkwood is a singleplayer only game.

What about mod support?
We don't plan any modding capabilities currently.

Will Darkwood support my language?
Currenty, we are planning English and Polish versions. No info on additional translations right now!

Will there be a linear story line or an open, sandbox world?
The world is fully open and you are free to go wherever you want. There will be a strong, twisted storyline in the background for you to discover and learn the mysteries of Darkwood, but it can be skipped if you wish to focus on the gameplay.

Will the final version of Darkwood be DRM free?
Of course! Just like you, we hate DRM. Please keep in mind that if you choose a platform like Steam, the game will have to obey it's rules.

Why Permadeath? Can't you make it optional?
Nope, it's a core mechanic and we won't make it optional. Don't worry, dying is a integral part of the game. We want the gameplay to be as intense as possible, and permadeath forces you to think about each decision and plan ahead. In the event of you character's death, your next playthrough will be very different from the previous one thanks to random generation, and not everything will be lost - some things will carry over to your next life.

Sorry, there are no playable builds currently, and we do not plan to do alpha-funding.
Understandable, but do you think that in the future there will be Beta access available for pledgers?

A lot of Darkwood's gameplay is about discovery and exploration, and we don't want to spoil it by doing beta-tests. On the other hand, we like this model which lets the community have more influence over the game. Maybe in the future we will find a way to keep out some of the elements of the game and release early builds, but I wouldn't count on it ;)

will be there a Gamemaster feature? not talking about the "I control all the world" but y can handle some kind of resources and being unpredictable, plus not a duel(GM vs PLAYERS) but a way to enrich the experience

There is an idea for multiplayer similar to what you're saying, it would definately be a pretty awesome mode to play, but would require lots of work - we'll see how the Indiegogo goes!

Is adding multiplayer hard to do? Whys it gotta be last on that list of stretch goals? :? Man, multiplayer makes games much more awesome. :geek:
Its simple math!
Game + Multiplayer x fan base = SUCCESS. lol

I completely disagree. Most of the best games ever made (Dwarf Fortress, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Star Control 2, Starflight, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Jagged Alliance 2, Planescape: Torment, Deus Ex, just to cite a few) didn't had multiplayer. Multiplayer don't make games better.

But we wouldn't call that DRM, Steam is pretty great!
I already back the IndieGoGo for Darkwood and I even gave you my vote through Steam Greenlight, and I seriously hope it succeeds but please, make the game available through other platforms, like GoG, Humble Store or your own website. No matter how great it is, I will not own/play games on Steam, so I ask again, don't make it a Steam Exclusive.

Good Luck with the campaign!
