The church basement because I decided to engage all the chompers like an idiot. I believe there are 4 or 5 down there and they all attacked me at once. I killed 2 or 3 with my guns but couldn't reload because I was being destroyed. I play on Nightmare so I sprinted to the exit and applied bandages, reloaded, then went back in and killed the rest with only minor damage since only 1 was still at the door.

The church dream event actually decides what will be down in the basement, if you run from the black chomper you get the worst outcome of the basement crawling with red chompers, if the black chomper kills you the basement will be empty upon arrival, but he chompers will ambush you when you either collect the distorted key OR turn on the radio, if you manage to kill the black chomper there will just be a few huge dogs

In general?
I would say "Banshee event"
I mean in itself it's not that hard, takes but one hit to get rid of it, but then all your electrical grid goes highwire, and a pair of chompers appears...
That have never ended up well for me...

Nope.
7.0 At my friends place.
I want to wait for the final; buffed and polished version to buy it.

I'm a patient lad.
I know.
The game is in the development for... over three years now. I'm guessing that it will take three more to finish it.
However if I would buy the game now, I'd start to play it over, and over, which would lead to me doing everything there is to do in the game; which then would result in me be bored with it.
That way I have something to look forward to.

Besides Factorio taught me otherwise.
I mean each new release makes mods to stop working. And you have to modify them.
It's easy to change 0.13 to 0.14, but it's rarely that easy.
When a mod is not working with the new update, you have to check original files for reference to see what is missing, and they are, oh so sloppy..!
You might spend an hour with this only to be having a single line added to the mod.
It might sound not so bad, but doing this over, and over again...
But I digress...

That's a fair opinion, and I in no way want to say you're wrong in it. I do have to say my own piece on it though. I've been playing since very early alpha and by this point part of the gameplay for me is the updates - especially since joining the wiki. For me, the final release of the game is going to be a pretty bittersweet moment, because while I'll have the best iteration of the game, that means it's all over after I beat it. It's why despite how much time it can take, I'm always hyped when the next update shows up, especially big updates. The update that split the map into biomes was like a whole new game, almost.

Also, I don't see a big modding scene for Darkwood? I mean, it might be cool, but especially as of now Unity really isn't moddable anyway? Can't say much on this myself, tbh.

Game "moddability" is rarely dependant on the engine itself, but rather on how easily accesible are the game assets, like models, or event scripts. You never mess with the game engine. Even most advanced mods - total conversion mods, rarely do so.
Now making a game that is easily moddable greatly extends it's replayability. I mean, when you'll finish the vanilla mode of the game, you can go hunting for mods for it, to check them out, and play the game anew.
The easier the mods are made for that particular game, the more of them are there to pick from, and as such, the longer the game itself will entertain.

Still, that's a designers choice methinks. I mean there are games out there, which asset files are encrypted on purpose, so you can't have fun with them.

But that's totally off-topic right now...
