Co-op Suggestion

Post by zuruzora » Fri Jun 02, 2017 1:47 am

Hello, first time writing here! First of all, I must say that Darkwood was quite a good surprise: the game is fantastic and it fills every survival horror gamer expectations! It got even better since I acquired it, too.
My suggestion, as it was said in the topic subject, is the co-op implementation (that I suppose that was a frequent suggestion). 2 players should do fine. As I read earlier in another discussion, it could (and should) be a totally new form of play and story, as the single player plot is complete as it gets.
I hope you take my suggestion as a potential future implementation :D
Thank you

I would like some co-op features too.Would really like if i could play this game with my friend so 2 players would be really fine.I would even pay for that feature if it needs.

I know the devs probably do not want hear it but I still hope for a coop mode.

That reminds me of other horror games, starting as 'vulnerability fantasies' like Resident Evil 7 (from the first campaign, shifting to 'Not a Hero') or The Evil Within *main campaign, shifting to 'The Executioner') then something of a 'power fantasy' with dlc or new characters - shifting the game from utter, lonely isolation to something more like 'lets do this' and openly confronting the horrors of the Darkwood zone.

I severely doubt such a thing would be added, but the perspective shift could potentially be compelling - rather than running and hiding, a new mode could be much more direct, perhaps set in the aftermath, with far more riskier encounters given more player(s)/allies, though the latter would require quite the AI design to pull off.

Just theorising, ultimately we have our opinions, no pressure desired given just how enjoyable the game is as a single-player.

While it would be very cool to see, I think it would sort of ruin the whole aesthetic and atmosphere of Darkwood. It gives you more of a sense of familiarity and sensibility, and that's not really what Darkwood is about.

Darkwood is supposed to be this strange, recognizable but also completely alien place that no man should have to live in. A place where you do not dare confront the woods, nor the inhabitants, lest it be absolutely necessary.

Again, neat for a bit, but then you have to consider the design and world of the game, not just what would be cool to see.

TL;DR: It's a solo experience. You aren't intended to have friends. It wouldn't work.
Khaaan!

Do not fear the unknown. Embrace it, take it upon yourself, and turn it into the known, then never be afraid again.
